Holiday Gites France - The Self Catering Option For Your Holidays in France

There are numerous options available to you for taking a holiday in France ranging from camping to top class hotels. Deciding which is the best option for you can be a bit tricky but I am of the firm opinion that a self catering holiday in a gite in France is one of the best options available.

So what are my reasons for making this statement, the easiest way is to demonstrate with a simple list of bullet statements.

Flexibility
Exclusivity
Comfort
Affordability
Location choice

Flexibility

Gite accommodation if selected correctly will provide you with loads of flexibility for you and your family, you can decide whether you want to prepare your own food, eat out or get a take away. You usually have access to a garden where you can chill out for the day when you are fed up of getting in the car, more often than not there is some form of entertainment available for you to choose from including TV, music, games or just reading. When the weather is a little inclement, does not happen too often in the South of France but it can for the odd day or two, you have a refuge to shelter in if needed, not so much fun in a tent or caravan. It is, if selected correctly, a home from home that caters for most if not all scenarios.

Exclusive use of a swimming pool

Renting a stand alone gite in the country with private gardens and a pool can give you privacy to enjoy yourself without having to share with other holiday makers. Not a requirement for everyone but very desirable for some people especially if their home life is spent in close contact with neighbors which they may not always get on with. Having the use of a pool without having to share it can be a very nice option.

Comfort

Many of the gites on offer have been renovated to meet the expectations of the British and German holidaymakers with high standards approaching or equaling those of good quality hotels. Clean, smart with lots of facilities and comfortable beds plus the added benefit of well equipped kitchens and sitting rooms, again that home from home feeling.

Affordability

The self catering option presents the opportunity for keeping costs to a reasonable level, looking after your self costs less than having to pay for bed and breakfast or hotel accommodation. Plus you have the choice of how much you spend on your catering, food and drink costs a lot less from a supermarket than a restaurant and you can decide how often you want to take the more expensive options.

Location Choice

Because of the sheer volume of gites available throughout France, you can pretty much choose a facility and location that exactly meets your requirements. That can be in the town or in the country and can be full on vibrant and busy or totally chilled. Camp sites and hotels don't tend to be able to provide that level of choice for reasonably obvious reasons.

Clearly all types of holiday accommodation can provide some of these benefits but none I believe offer the full package as well as self catering accommodation. Wish I had thought about this when I was traveling around France over the years.
