Popular Destinations for Golfers

Every year, a lots of people go on summer trips. Whether it's a trip with the family, a romantic getaway with your partner, or an adventure with friends, picking the right destination is difficult. It can be hard to find something that offers activities everyone will like. If you're big on golfing, consider a golf resort for your next vacation.

Golf resorts are spread all around the world. If you're searching in the United States, you'll come up with plenty of them. Golf resorts in many states only stay open during the spring and summer. A great deal of resorts are found in states such as Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, and North and South Carolina.

While golf resorts mainly focus on, well, golf, there are plenty of other things you can do when you arrive. These other activities might be a big help if you're traveling with your family, especially if they aren't as crazy about golf as you are. In this case, you should probably look for amusement parks, beaches, or other diversions in the area.

If you want beaches, take a look at the resorts in Myrtle Beach. Try Myrtlewood Golf Resort and Villas, right near South Carolina's Myrtle Beach. This golf resort, a short drive away from the beach, is a perfect choice for golfers bringing their families along. You can also find more resorts in the area close to the beach by checking out places by the coast.

Besides looking for other activities for the family, you can also check in to one of the especially family-friendly golf resorts. The Marriott Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, in California is only one out of many resorts that are made for the whole family. The Marriot Rancho Las Palmas boasts swimming pools and water slides, tennis courts, camp for kids and even on-site spas.

Remember to consider the cost of these resorts. Cost should be as big a factor as the close-by activities you want and the actual location of the golf resort. If traveling with family members or someone who doesn't golf, why not look for courses that give discounts to non-players?

For most people, a golf resort is a place to relax and play golf. The cost includes your use of on-site courses. You're paying for a number of things: the play itself, lessons, and use of golf carts. Non-golfers shouldn't have to pay for these golf services. Many U.S. golf courses don't ask full price from non-golfers.

If you're on a budget, you can save money in a number of ways. Look for coupons or packages on-line. You can find them on a bunch of discount travel sites. Your local travel agency might also be able to help you..

If you're dying to spend long hours--or even days--golfing, then you should definitely consider a golf resort. Whether vacationing alone or with family or friends, there are many exciting activities at the numerous golf resorts across America.

Christmas Vacation Destinations

Christmas is the time to celebrate with your family and kids. And, there is no better way of celebrating this festival than going for a family vacation and spending time together. There are several vacation destinations where you can enjoy your Christmas and also spend meaningful time with your kids and spouse.

Some of the best Christmas vacation destinations are listed below:

• San Diego: If you want to escape the snow, then take a trip to San Diego this December and watch the gray whales migrate at this time of the year from Bering Sea to Baja California. You can easily charter a catamaran and then go into the sea for a day or two where you can spend time watching the whales as well as other marine life such as dolphins, sharks, turtles, porpoises and some marine birds.

• Lake Tahoe: If you want to experience snow and mountain slopes this Christmas, then head to Lake Tahoe. This is a wonderful place for people who want to experience winter sports and activities. The lake is frozen at this time of the year, but you put on your skis and come down the slopes in glee. The resort will also prepare a scrumptious Christmas lunch for you and be prepared to get smoked salmon or grilled salmon, lobster bisque and chocolate torte. This is the usual fare that is served up here in the ski resorts of the lake.

• Orlando: Of course, one must not forget to mention Orland as one of the best Christmas vacation destinations. With Walt Disney World Resort, Sea World Universal Studio, shopping malls and the biggest play place by McDonald's you are bound to have your kids jumping with joy.

• Hershey: If nothing else seems suitable this Christmas, then head to Pennsylvania to Hershey, the hometown of Hershey chocolates. You can visit the Chocolate Land and then wait to see the Christmas light display. In addition, take a trip to Hershey Park and then visit a church if you are religious and top it all up with a typical Christmas meal at one of the many gourmet restaurants that you will find here.

Romantic Destinations in Texas

If big things and a country atmosphere sound like your cup of tea, romantic destinations in Texas are a great option for that intimate trip. Following are a few choice romantic destination ideas.

Romantic Destinations in Texas

A trip to Texas is said to be like a trip to another country. The Lone Star State is an area that is totally different than any other state around it, with influences to its food, culture and people coming from both the United States and Mexico right below it. The big cities of Austin and Dallas offer tourists many different cultural and entertainment possibilities, while historical sites such as the Alamo and other western spots offer a glimpse into the past. Romantic destinations in Texas can take any form you want, from the trendy and modern to the country feel of the Old West.

Another area of Texas that should not be missed is the coastal region. Here, beach resorts and beautiful weather are king, and trips to this area are more like vacations in tropical paradise. One area that is full of perfect romantic resorts is Galveston Island, located in the south of Texas. This island is 32 miles long and a little over two miles wide, but it is filled with beaches and attractions that make most people who live here want to never return to the main land. Galveston contains not only 32 miles of beaches, but also one of the largest concentrations of Victorian architecture (intact) in the US.

A spot in Galveston to stay for your romantic destinations in Texas is The Mermaid and The Dolphin, a Tropical Garden Spa Resort. This property was once the governor of Texas's summer mansion, and is now a beautiful resort with eight guest rooms. All of the rooms are decorated individually with different themes and styles, and the beauty of the Victorian touches are evident throughout. All rooms/suites include a fireplace, private bath and Jacuzzi for two, as well as several other amenities that are sure to be appreciated.

Close to all the Galveston attractions, there is also a restaurant on site, as well as many amenities in your room including CD players, coffee service, and luxury bath and body products. The Mermaid and The Dolphin also offers many romantic packages to make your stay here even more special. For the ultimate in luxury and romance, the Wild at Hearth Night Fires (available in winter) package is for you. This treat includes a lambswool rug to lounge on (and keep) as well as champagne and toasting flutes you can also keep as souvenirs. Scented candles and a lit fireplace, along with a single red rose on the rug, complete this romantic picture.

Romantic destinations in Texas can mean much more than camping or exploring the wild, untamed west. Warm beach breezes and tropical gardens can also be the setting for your trip here, as well as many other romantic spots, making this state perfect for repeat visits.

Winter Vacations - Warm Weather Destinations

Do you need a break from the cold? If you need to thaw out then consider taking a vacation to a warm weather destination. You will return tan, refreshed and ready to brave the rest of the winter. Here are some suggestions for taking a winter holiday.

First off, you need to decide how long you can get away and how much travel you want to do. Since most of the U.S. is cold in winter you'll have to go south to find warm weather. If you only have a few days then it makes sense to keep your winter trip close to home since you don't want to spend a large part of your holiday on a plane.

Consider visiting southern Florida which has loads of options and tropical weather throughout the winter. Miami is fantastic for visiting the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the nightlife of South Beach. If you want a slower pace and fewer crowds, consider the Florida Keys. Key West is a quaint city full of bed and breakfasts with plenty to do for the entire family including water sports and nightlife.

A bit farther (but not by much) is the Caribbean. You'll need a passport and the flights are more expensive but it is well worth it. There are tons of tropical islands from which to choose and there are French, Dutch, British, Latin and other influences to give you some culture. The Dominican Republic is know for its inexpensive all inclusive resorts; included in the packages is accommodation, food, transfers and water sports.

If you have more time and money then consider taking a winter vacation in the Southern Hemisphere which is summer during the U.S.' winter. Rio de Janeiro has the world famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana with Sugar Loaf as a rugged mountain backdrop. Since Rio is a large city, it boasts five star hotels, fine dining and many nightlife options. Another holiday destination south of the equator is Australia. The Gold Coast is full of sun and sand options and the cities of Sydney and Melbourne have a European feel. If you're up for some adventure then visit the interior and explore the outback.

Southeast Asia is a popular destination due to its affordability and richness in culture. Singapore is not only full of sights, luxury hotels and culture but it is known for being a very clean country. Malaysia has many white sand beaches and islands with accommodations ranging from simple bungalows to lavish resorts. Thailand is another country brimming with ancient sights and gorgeous beaches and its people are known for their hospitality.

If you need to find some warm weather then there are many options for winter vacations. Take lots of pictures and don't forget your sunscreen!

My Favorite US Beach Destinations

A beach vacation offers everything from fun in the surf and sand to breath taking sunrises and sunsets, great for a summer vacation or escaping winter doldrums.

Here are two of my favorite beach vacation spots:

Myrtle Beach South Carolina

I love renting a condo right on the beach, it's well worth the extra cash. I also try to find a condo or rental that always features a swimming pool that comes in handy for taking breaks from the pounding surf. With a night walk along the beach you will find others enjoying the evening on the beach as well so it is very easy to meet new people and friends. The beach does tend to be a bit crowded at times but still worth the trip. For those into saltwater fishing you will find many fishing charter options available to you.

There is plenty of night life and good restaurants for great dining during the evening hours. If your into golf make sure to bring your clubs, Myrtle Beach has numerous world championship golf courses for your enjoyment. I usually stay on the southern end of what is referred to the Grand Strand. If you would like to avoid the crowds consider visiting after labor day when the crowds have diminished and the kids are back in school.

Sanibel and Captiva Islands Florida

A couple of years back I was lucky enough financially to be able to rent a luxury home for a month on Sanibel island. If you like a relaxed laid back casual atmosphere this is the place to be. The two islands offer plenty of great beaches with Sanibel being a haven for seashell lovers and collectors. There are only a handful of hotels on the islands but a quick search on the web will find you plenty of vacation rentals.

The two islands located right off the coast of Fort Meyers have plenty of restaurants that offer everything from pizza to gourmet meals and the dress is casual. There are miles and miles of bicycle and walking paths on the islands so if you love walking, jogging or cycling you can enjoy this uncrowded option. Florida is ver hot and humid in the summer months so consider it an option for a winter or spring vacation. The island temperatures are usually a few degrees colder than the main land. If you like breathtaking beach sunsets Sanibel and Captiva Islands have plenty of them.
